Website blocks traffic from Digg for bandwidth "theft"

By DiGiTAL

Untitled-5 It would have been kind of cool to say that this was from the same person (and that could easily be the case) who brought us WhyFirefoxIsBlocked.com but it has not been absolutely confirmed.  A new site is now blocking traffic from Digg.

What can be confirmed is that WhyDiggIsBlocked.com has the ability to redirect traffic coming from Digg away from the primary site.

It’s not clear which sites will/are participating in it but the reasoning behind the site is because Digg users advocate the use of AdBlockPlus which is a Firefox/Netscape add-on that blocks many types of ads from banners to pop-ups.

I’m guessing it doesn’t matter to the creator that Digg users are as much as three times less likely to click an ad than a simple Google-only user.  And, the general public has become more aware of ads and are growing more educated by the minute.

Although WebProNews didn’t say it, I will, these people are crazy but like the rest of us are entitled to an opinion even if it is flawed through and through.

Still, I can agree on one issue and one issue only, something has to be done about Digg and Digg users submitting links to mom and pop websites that simply cannot handle that amount of traffic and something better than Digg Mirror, Coral Cache or Google Cache.
