Give your website a Ringside seat with Facebook, Bebo, My Space, Orkut, and other social apps

By Susan Wilson

Ringside Seat  Ringside Social Application Server promises to revolutionize the way websites interact with readers.  Now companies can integrate social networking into their websites and they can integrate their sites with social networks.  Companies will be able to create true online communities rather than just a "web presence".

Ringside Networks has developed an open source application that will allow business websites to add social applications as part of the site.  This gives businesses the ability to interact directly with customers and potential customers through their own social applications.  Not only can companies add social applications to their own sites they can also integrate their company websites with Social Networks like Facebook and soon, My Space, Bebo, Orkut and others.  Companies can target groups that might be interested in their products or in employment.

This new social application server comes with "a set of standard social applications such as user profiles, friends, groups, comments, ratings, favorites, events, etc.," so that web site owners can quickly get started.  It also allows any Facebook app to run on any website with minor changes.  For Facebook app developers, it opens up a new market for their creations.  Since Ringside is open source, it allows for collaboration between website and Facebook developers so that the applications created from either side can be tweaked and improved.

Website designations like "business" or "social" are becoming increasingly blurred.  Ringside continues this trend by providing the tools to blend the two.
