Symantec says business community still prefers Windows XP over Vista
By Arnold Zafra
Microsoft Vista has received even more negative publicity. This time it’s from Symantec CEO Enrique Salem who said that most of his company’s large enterprise customers still prefer to run their enterprise PCs on Windows XP.
Salem told Information Week that most of his company’s enterprise customers continue to use the XP because they are not yet comfortable with Vista.
Salem also said that even Symantec is suffering from the slow uptake of the Vista among its customers. This has caused Symantec to lose valuable sales in terms of providing security, upgrade services and other add-on services.
”We wish it (Vista) was popular,” said Salem.
Despite Microsoft’s optimism about boosting Vista’s performance with the release of its Service Pack 1 recently, Symantec doubts if it will actually translate into users actually embracing Vista.
Hence, Symantec is looking forward to 2010 when Microsoft promises to deliver the successor to Vista which is Windows 7. Symantec engineers are already working with Microsoft on possible add-on products for the said new Windows OS.
